Pitch Hitter Sign Up Link
  • What is a Pitch Hitter?

A pitch hitter is someone called on later during the Big Bang, when a Primary Creator or Secondary Creator has to drop out.

  • Why are they called Pitch Hitters?

I think it has something to do with baseball, but don’t quote me on that.

  • What does a Pitch Hitter do?

You are essentially ‘filling someone else’s shoes.’  Sometimes life happens and someone has to drop out of the Big Bang after both them & their partner have started working together.

  • If I fill in for someone who was supposed to write a 50k story & already gave you a summary, do I have to write that same story?

No.  If a PC were to drop out, you would then coordinate with the SC to make complimentary works- it does not have to be the same format at the original PC and certainly not the same breadth of project.  What you create is still up to you. Same if a SC drops you, you work with the PC and do not have to fulfill the same exact thing the SC signed up for.

First things first, sign-ups for Secondary Creators is now closed! Attempting to sign up through this form will no longer work.

Secondly, emails with all the primary creators summaries/project descriptions have been sent out. Secondary creators will pick one project they like (further instructions included in the email). The pairing up has officially begun!

Sign-ups for Pitch Hitters are opening up. A post about that is following this one, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

As submissions from Primary Creators start to trickle in, I want to remind everyone to not worry.  You have until APRIL 20th to get your summaries into me and I will be sending out reminder emails on the 1st of April. But if you, like others, are all geared up and know what you want to write, you may be wondering how it's supposed to be formatted.

Here's a general guideline:
[Title]
Rating:
Warnings:
Summary:

And an example:
these endless days
Rating: Teen & Up
Warnings: angst, unhappy ending, depression, suicidal idealization
Summary: When Atlantis is stranded in space, the crew knows they only have enough supplies for one more month.  This won't stop them from trying their best, but as the days grow shorter they're forced to confront that this is how they will die.  Not with a bang, but a whimper.  And holding that in their hearts, confessions start to come out.

You are always welcome to include additional content too.  Such as listing side pairings or tropes, but they are not required.  If there's no rating or warning provided, they will be assumed to be everyone & none.

FAQ:
  • When can I start posting in the AO3 collection?
As soon as you want.  It is anonymous & unrevealed until July 31st.
  • Can I sign up to be a primary & secondary creator?
Of course!
  • Can I request to have no one partnered with me?
Yes!
  • When is the last day I can drop out?
I would prefer that July 1st is the last day anyone drops out, but completely understand that we cannot plan for everything.  So you can drop out at any time, but I would really prefer you finished out! Cheerleading can be provided.
  • Is there a Discord?
There is a general McShep/SGA Discord, but it is not exclusively a Big Bang Discord. That being said, you can find fellow fans there.  Here's the invite!

Have you ever wanted to make content for McShep but worked better on a deadline?

Have you always had that wonderful idea in the back of your head that you keep saying you're going to write but never do?

This is your chance to get it out!

Simply sign up via this form!

When you sign up, you can sign up as one of three types of creators.

The first type is the Primary Creator. You’re the idea person and you will send me what your prompt/idea is on April 20th. I will then collate all these ideas on one giant document for Secondary Creator’s to claim. Once all Primaries are claimed, I’ll email all the primary creators to tell them who they’re working with and make sure they get in contact with each other.

If you’re a Secondary Creator, from April 20th-30th you will claim a prompt from the document. I will give you the email to contact your primary creator so you can start collaborating. Secondary creatures usually have smaller projects then the Primary Creator, but it’s not necessary.

If you’re a Pitch Hitter, this means if someone has to drop out (it happens, no judgement!), you step in. Pitch Hitters can be called in at any time up until the end of July, when things are due. Pitch Hitters are not required to follow the same requirements as the person they’re filling in for. (So if someone writing a 50k fic ends up dropping out, you don’t have to write a 50k fic instead. You’ll talk to the other partner & come up with a compromise that works for both you.)
